Elsa Rose Eastabrook

Shangrila:  What is your favourite post-yoga meal?
Elsa:  Salmon Tacos on hand-made corn tortillas, with freshly-made salsa, and lime, and cilantro, and smoked hot peppers... anyone else hungry? ;)

S: Why did you start doing yoga?
E: My journey into a yoga practice began as a 17-year-old, when my then boxing trainers suggested I do yoga as a compliment to the high impact sport. It was not love at first sight--but something kept me coming back. Each time a new hurdle presented itself in my life I would turn to yoga.

S: What made you decide to become a yoga instructor?
E: Each new milestone in life brought a deeper connection to my practice. I began to see the parallels between life on and off the mat learned to express my creativity and joy through the movement of yoga. I knew I needed to share and teach others to do the same.

S: What is your favourite yoga moment?
E: I have the most fun playing with arm balances. This is where I find creativity, challenge and inspiration. A good, spontaneous koundinyasana (one-legged arm balance) is my favourite though. When I just have to stop what I'm doing a bust a move, that's the pure joy of asana!
