Shangrila Yoga: Why did you start doing yoga?
Kathy: I was in my late teens and struggling to deal with chronic issues like headaches and insomnia that didn't respond to traditional treatment. I'd heard yoga helped with stress. I was hooked almost immediately by how good I felt after class and soon noticed how it helped not only with my physical challenges but in every area of my life.

S: What made you decide to become a yoga instructor?
K: I actually hadn't planned on teaching when I took my teacher training! I just wanted to deepen my own practice. But about a year after completing the training, I realized I wanted to share all the yoga goodness with others.

S: What is your favourite yoga moment?
K: When a pose opens up for me and brings me totally into the moment. Bliss.

S: What style of yoga class do you like to do?
K: I don't have a single school or style that I follow; my style is definitely a fusion of all the marvelous teachers who got me this far! My teacher training was in Integral Yoga and I loved that it was a practice that emphasized a physical, mental and spiritual balance.
